Lawn Bowling
In Lawn Bowling a coach guides the blind bowler by judging distances and throwing weight. These are generally the only adaptations required for blind and visually impaired athletes to participate in lawn bowling.
Blind Bowls (Lawn Bowling) National Championships coming to Winnipeg in July 2010. If you are interested in participating, you must register for the event and complete a sight classification form prior to July 6th. The cost to register is as follows:
$ 10.00 - Membership Fee (to BBAC) - plus $5.00 Membership Fee for your coach/guide
$ 160.00 - Registration Fee (includes registration in the National Championship, breakfast, lunch and snacks during the days of the event & a banquet on the Saturday night).
Please note this event is not an MBSA sanctioned event so no funding is available from MBSA. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact the MBSA office.
Volunteers needed: The event organizers require drivers to pick people up from the airport, provide transportation from the hotel to the lawn bowling green (and back to the hotel), help with scoring, serving breakfast, lunch, beverages and snacks, and looking for help to guide athletes on the greens.
